Play by the Book Sensory Play Classes
Sensory Play Classes are guided, play-centered experiences designed to help children build language, concepts, and confidence through hands-on exploration and shared texts.
Rooted in the Play by the Book framework, these classes invite children to engage with books not only by listening, but by moving, touching, imagining, and creating meaning through play. Stories and informational texts become starting points for sensory exploration, conversation, and joyful discovery.
Across all offerings, children are supported through responsive facilitation, rich language modeling, and developmentally appropriate routines that honor curiosity and readiness.
Play is the work of childhood.
~Jean Piaget
Family Sensory Play Workshops are facilitated experiences that invite children and caregivers to explore books together through shared reading and play.
Families move through thoughtfully designed sensory stations inspired by a story or text, engaging in:
Shared read-alouds
Open-ended sensory play
Movement and music
Dramatic play and retelling
Process art for meaning making
Caregivers actively participate alongside their children while facilitators model simple, powerful language-building routines, conversation strategies, and ways to extend learning at home. These workshops strengthen early literacy while nurturing connection, confidence, and joyful shared experiences.

Child-only Sensory Play Classes are designed to invite curiosity, support development, and bring books to life through hands-on exploration in a small-group setting.
Each class blends:
Open-ended sensory play
Shared literature or informational texts
Movement and embodied storytelling
Guided conversation and reflection
Children explore at their own pace, choosing how they engage while building language, confidence, problem-solving skills, and social connection. Facilitators guide gently, offering prompts and invitations that deepen understanding without directing outcomes.

Play, Not Pressure
